Music in Barton

The first concert proudly presented Wells Cathedral Music School whose highly accomplished, young musicians played a selection of music for string quartet and brass quintet :  Sunday 16th June, 2019, 3 pm Village Hall. The programme included pieces by Rossini (William Tell Overture), Malcolm Arnold, Hayden, Shostakovich, Butterworth and Irving Berlin’s ‘Putting on the Ritz’  Tickets were £10, but free for 18s. Further info Box Office 01458 851692. 64 people attended; the inaugural concert was deemed a great success ‘a joyful afternoon of music making’.

 

‘Music in Barton’… organizes occasional concerts of a wide range of  music to attract young and old.  The new village music club was founded by 34 ‘Subscribers’. Their sponsorship enables us to invite top musicians.

Road Closure 21-26 October 2019

Wessex Water are closing Main street in Barton from 21-26 October. Broadly the area affected is from the junction with Silver street round towards Hurtle Pool (the bit that floods). Diversion is via Keinton, Kingweston and Butleigh.
