GOOD WALKING !
Barton St David and the immediate area has some very pleasant and interesting walks. The following list will, it is hoped, encourage you all to put on your boots and realise the benefits of fresh air and gentle exercise. There are currently eleven walks on the web site ranging from 3 miles to 8 miles. The distances are fairly accurate but the timings are approximate and depend on your personal pace and the type of ground. Most people can manage a steady pace of 2 miles per hour. The longer walks take you out of Barton St David parish and Walk 9 starts at Butleigh.
Water and mud proof boots are recommended as most walks are off-road. You must also be mindful of the country code of closing gates, keeping dogs on leads where animals are about, and basically leaving things as you find them. Any feed-back on guidance notes, improvements or non-friendly dog stiles would be most welcome as would suggestions for any additional walks to be added to the list.
There are two formats for the walks. The first format is as an Adobe Portable File (.pdf) which means it is fairly straightforward to print a copy of a particular walk. For best results the walks should be printed in ‘Landscape’. The second format is as a picture file (.jpg) which can either be viewed directly from the internet on a mobile smart phone or tablet or downloaded, stored and viewed later. To select a particular walk click on the appropriate number in red in the first column of the list.
