In October we were very pleased to welcome the Rev. Jane Durham as Priest in Charge of Wheathill Benefice.
Barton St David Church has a service on most Sundays and on various special occasions. Information about services and other matters is displayed in the church porch and circulated to all homes in the Village News and the Parish Magazine. The church is open throughout daylight hours.
Barton is one of three parishes in the ‘Wheathill Benefice’, the others being ‘Keinton Mandeville with Kingweston’ and West Lydford. You can find out more about our churches, services and support events by following this link https://wheathill.org/
Benefice Choir Harvest Concert at Barton St David
This year it was decided to move our Harvest Concert to a Sunday Morning, the 30th September. Starting with a short service, the newly formed ‘Family’ Choir joined with the Benefice Choir to sing songs from Mary Poppins and Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat.
Our Harvest celebrations concluded with a delicious ploughman’s lunch in Barton Church. We also enjoyed listening to Trevor Ryder singing an Irish-American folk song which he accompanied on the Appalachian dulcimer.
The churchwardens for Barton Church are Jan Craig (850825) and Wendy Eitzen (850011).
The Transept room at the church is available for meetings and small functions, and can be booked through Jan Craig.
The Parish Magazine contains secular as well as church information for the whole Benefice. Small advertisements by individuals and businesses are accepted, space allowing. It is delivered free at the start of each month. Barton items for inclusion should be sent to Vicky Power at email@example.com
