Latest History Club News
Sadly Peter Robinson, the founder and inspiration behind the History Club, died recently. We will all miss his gentle but very effective management of the club, and his obvious enjoyment of its success. The remaining members of the steering committee – Dennis Powell, Carolyn Browning, Penny Robinson, and Gill and Barry Hooks – intend to keep the club running once conditions allow. Happily Paul Eitzen has agreed to join us, bringing much-needed expertise in a number of areas.
We welcome any ideas from members of the club for future meetings and speakers – please contact Gill Hooks (firstname.lastname@example.org) with these.
The effects of the Covid lockdown which means the Village Hall will not be open for larger group events until further notice, mean that no meetings are currently planned. As soon as the government gives the go-ahead for safe use of buildings like the Village Hall for larger groups we will inform our membership and start booking speakers.
AIMS. The club aims to collect and collate historical information about the village. New members are always welcome.
Are you able to assist the club by allowing us to scan old photos or records of Barton people, places and events?
Members who have paid for membership for 2020 will of course receive free membership for the 2021 season.
